Assistant Director
Join the leadership team as the assistant director of Amplify Sleep Away Camp and bring our mission to empower girls through music education, the creative arts, community and positive mentorship to life! Support staff in their day to day schedules and responsibilities, helping them be powerful mentors and role models for our camper community. From problem solving to delegating tasks, the director works closely with the director and the lead team to provide a safe, educational and fun summer full of friendships, challenge and rewarding hard work. Perks of the assistant director role include a private room with shared bathroom in staff housing units. Preference is given to those able to work part time eight to ten weeks pre-camp (distance or in person).
Responsibilities and Daily Tasks
- Represent Amplify as a positive role model and mentor to campers and staff
- Work with director team to hire and train a staff of 35 counselors, instructors and lead team members
- Supervise staff including implementing weekly check in system, performance plans when needed, staff appreciation, termination, and exit interviews
- Connect with AM and PM leads on a daily basis and support or fill in when needed
- Responsible for coordinating transportation, off campus trips and private lessons
- Lead camper orientation
- Main point of contact for camper guardians
- Organize and head lead team meetings twice weekly
- Attend director meetings twice weekly and more often as needed
- Organize and lead all staff meeting before each session
- Follow up on any camper health and behavioral issues including communication with lead team and guardians
- Other tasks as needed
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum age of 25
- Current driver’s license with clean driving record and ability to safely operate a 12 passenger van
- 5+ years experience with young adult leadership, mentorship, communication, goal setting, and general ability to successfully manage staff
- Compassionate and calm demeanor while problem solving with campers, staff and guardians
- Understanding of and connection to our mission so that it is always at the forefront of mind
- Strong public speaking, leadership, delegation, supervision and communication skills
- Excellent use of email, texting, Slack, and telephone for communication with camper families and staff
- Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate activities
PAY AND BENFITS
- The pay range is $4875-$6,000, depending on experience, for 8 weeks (June 11-August 5) of full-time summer employment
- Private room and board 100% covered
- Travel cost to and from Besant Hill Campus is not included and is the responsibility of each staff member
