Junior Counselors
Your first step from camper to staff.
Amplify’s Junior Counselor program is a paid summer internship for eligible high school graduates ready to take the next step into leadership, mentorship, and real-world work experience at camp.
With just three Junior Counselor positions available per session, JCs are selected through an application and interview process, attend staff training, live together, and become part of the Amplify staff team while receiving extra mentorship and support as they make the transition from camper to staff.
THIS IS A REAL JOB, WITH REAL SUPPORT
Junior Counselors aren’t campers with extra responsibilities. They’re part of the staff team. JCs attend staff training, work alongside experienced Amplify staff, take on meaningful responsibilities, and learn what it actually takes to help create a safe, joyful, creative camp experience for younger campers.
At the same time, we know this may be a JC’s first professional summer job. The program is intentionally designed as a bridge between being a camper and becoming a full staff member, with mentorship, feedback, and room to learn.

CHOOSE A PATH. SHADOW A PRO.
During their two-week session, each Junior Counselor chooses a staff member or area of camp to shadow, gaining hands-on experience in a role that matches their interests and future goals.
- LIVE PRODUCTION
Shadow sound, lighting, stage, or event-production staff and help bring performances and camp-wide events to life. - CREATIVE PROGRAMMING
Work alongside instructors in areas like Rock Band, Musical Theatre, visual arts, or other creative programs. - CAMPER SUPPORT
Learn from experienced counselors and staff while helping younger campers feel safe, included, and connected. - HEALTH & WELLNESS

THE AMPLIFY LEADERSHIP PATHWAY
CAMPER → LIT → PAID JUNIOR COUNSELOR → SUMMER STAFF
Junior Counselor is the next step for eligible high school graduates who are ready to move from the camper experience into Amplify’s staff community.
Participating in LIT can be great preparation for Junior Counselor because LITs practice mentoring, communication, event production, problem-solving, and leadership. However, completing LIT does not guarantee a Junior Counselor position. All JCs apply and interview through Amplify’s staff hiring process.
YES, IT’S PAID.
Junior Counselor is a paid internship, not a camper program. JCs apply and interview for one of only three positions available per session and, if selected, join Amplify’s staff team for their three-week placement.
3 positions per session
