RESIDENTIAL COUNSELOR & WORKSHOP LEADER

DAY RESIDENTIAL COUNSELOR ROLES

Must be 25+ years old with a clean and current driver’s license and ability to safely operate a 12 passenger van. This mentor manages transportation for the arriving and departing LAX and Beverly Hills High School shuttles, skatepark shuttle, camp-related errands and some off-campus activities. Counselor responsibilities include supporting staff with activities, camper support, administrative tasks, and other tasks as needed.

 

The Electric Youth Head Counselor and Workshop Leader is responsible for guiding and nurturing our youngest campers (4th-5th grades) through their camp experience. This role includes leading daily activities and specialized workshops designed to engage and inspire these young campers. The Head Counselor will create a supportive, fun, and inclusive environment, helping campers build confidence and develop new skills. Responsibilities also include overseeing daily routines, facilitating group bonding, and ensuring that each camper feels safe, happy, and encouraged to explore their interests. Ideal candidates should have a passion for working with young children, strong leadership abilities, and a creative approach to camp activities.

 

 

 

Current lifeguard certification is required for this counselor position. Two lifeguards administer swim tests, monitor swimmers at the pool and beach, and create a fun and engaging atmosphere blasting an awesome playlist and leading games. Lifeguards are responsible for cleanliness and organization of pool area and equipment through light cleaning, and maintaining sun shades, life jackets, pool toys and sound equipment. Other counselor activities include providing support to the lead team and assistant director as required.

 

This counselor creates a bridge building, educational, and age appropriate curriculum for 8 different workshops with a goal of helping campers develop a strong sense of who they are as individuals and positive contributing members of a greater community. Workshops are taught in the morning to campers in groups by age (grades 4-8 and 9-12) across 8 different days.

 

Take campers on off campus and overnight trips during camp and in-between sessions. Must be 21+, adventurous, first aid and CPR certified with a high level of skills in camping, and have driver’s license with a clean record and ability to safely drive a 12 passenger van.

 

As the Gear Manager and Private Lessons Coordinator at Amplify, you’ll be responsible for ensuring all musical equipment and camp gear are well-maintained, organized, and readily available for campers and staff. You’ll manage the setup, distribution, and return of gear, as well as troubleshoot any technical issues that arise. Additionally, you’ll coordinate private lessons, matching campers with instructors, scheduling sessions, and overseeing the smooth operation of all one-on-one instructional activities. Your role is vital in maintaining the quality and efficiency of both our gear and private lessons program.

The Feminism Workshops Elective Instructor is responsible for designing and leading engaging, thought-provoking sessions that explore feminist theory, history, and contemporary issues. The instructor will create a supportive environment where campers can discuss and critically examine topics related to gender equality, social justice, and empowerment. This role requires a deep understanding of feminist principles, strong facilitation skills, and the ability to foster open, inclusive discussions. The ideal candidate is passionate about mentoring youth, inspiring activism, and promoting a positive, inclusive camp culture.

The Music Electives Workshop Leader will work with campers in grades 6th-12th, guiding them through dynamic and engaging music workshops that cover various genres, instruments, and songwriting techniques. This role involves creating a fun, inclusive environment where campers can explore their musical talents, collaborate with peers, and develop new skills. The leader will tailor workshops to meet the diverse interests and skill levels of the campers, fostering both individual growth and group cohesion. Responsibilities include planning and leading daily sessions, offering personalized feedback, and helping campers prepare for camp showcases. Ideal candidates should have a strong background in music education, performance experience, and a passion for inspiring young musicians.

PM RESIDENTIAL COUNSELOR ROLES

The Filmmaking Elective Leader will guide campers in creating their own short films from concept to completion. This role involves teaching the fundamentals of filmmaking, including scriptwriting, storyboarding, directing, filming, and editing. The leader will mentor campers in visual storytelling, ensuring they understand the technical and creative aspects of filmmaking while fostering collaboration and creativity. The ideal candidate is experienced in film production, has a passion for working with youth, and can inspire and empower campers to express themselves through film.

 

Prepare and lead afternoon electives that help campers deepen friendships, enjoy time together and have some fun! This counselor also helps PM co-leads with coordinating free time and evening activities. This is the perfect position for a counselor who has a ton of energy in the afternoon and lots of group game, craft and activity ideas.

This counselor runs sound for evening performances and fun activities such as karaoke, the talent show and the final showcase performance. Schedule allows for A/V support throughout camp as needed. Works with AM lead as guest artist liaison. Beginners to sound engineering welcome!

 

The Trips Lead Counselor is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading off-campus and overnight adventures that serve as meaningful rites of passage for campers. This role requires someone who is 21+, adventurous, and highly skilled in camping and outdoor activities. The ideal candidate must be First Aid and CPR certified, possess a valid driver’s license with a clean record, and be capable of safely driving a 12-passenger van. In addition to trip leadership, the counselor is responsible for purchasing food for cooking, ensuring all necessary waivers are signed, and creating engaging and memorable experiences that foster growth and camaraderie among campers.

 

The Fashion Design and Sewing Instructor will lead campers in creating their own clothing, accessories, and wearable art. This role involves teaching both beginner and intermediate sewing techniques, fashion design principles, pattern making, and fabric selection. The instructor will help campers bring their creative visions to life, guiding them through the entire process—from sketching designs to sewing and finishing garments.

The ideal candidate will have experience in fashion design, sewing, and teaching, as well as a passion for mentoring young, aspiring designers. This instructor will foster a supportive and fun environment where campers feel encouraged to experiment, develop their technical skills, and express their personal style. Candidates should be knowledgeable in using sewing machines, hand stitching, and working with a variety of materials. Creativity, patience, and the ability to inspire and engage youth are key to this role.

The Podcasting Elective Instructor / Counselor will lead campers through the exciting process of creating their own podcasts, from concept to production. This role involves teaching campers how to develop content ideas, conduct interviews, edit audio, and publish their podcasts. The instructor will guide them on storytelling techniques, sound design, and the technical skills needed to operate recording equipment and software. In addition to podcasting instruction, the counselor will actively participate in daily camp activities, providing supervision and support. Ideal candidates should have experience in podcasting or audio production, a passion for storytelling, and a talent for inspiring and connecting with young people.

The DJ Elective Instructor / Counselor will guide campers through the art of DJing, teaching them how to mix tracks, create playlists, and understand the technical aspects of DJ equipment. This role involves instructing campers on beat matching, song transitions, and the basics of music production, helping them to build confidence and develop their unique DJ style. The instructor will also encourage creative expression and ensure campers are engaged in hands-on learning experiences. Beyond teaching, the counselor will be involved in daily camp life, providing supervision and support during meals, activities, and other camp events. Ideal candidates should have experience in DJing, a passion for music, and a strong ability to connect with and inspire youth.

The Journalism Instructor / Counselor will lead campers through the exciting world of journalism, teaching them how to research, write, and report on stories that matter. This role involves guiding campers in producing camp newsletters, blogs, or even multimedia stories, fostering skills in writing, interviewing, and editing. The instructor will encourage creativity and critical thinking, helping campers develop their own voices as young journalists. Beyond teaching, the counselor will engage with campers in various activities, providing support and supervision during meals, free time, and other group events. Ideal candidates should have a background in journalism or communications, experience working with youth, and a passion for storytelling and media.

The Skateboarding Instructor / Counselor will be responsible for teaching campers the fundamentals of skateboarding, from basic techniques to advanced tricks, in a safe and supportive environment. This role includes planning and leading daily skateboarding sessions, ensuring all safety protocols are followed, and providing individualized instruction to help campers improve their skills. The instructor will also foster a positive, inclusive atmosphere, encouraging campers to build confidence and have fun on the skate ramps. In addition to skateboarding instruction, the counselor will participate in general camp activities, helping to supervise and engage with campers during meals, free time, and group events. Ideal candidates should have a strong background in skateboarding, experience working with youth, and a commitment to promoting safety and enthusiasm for the sport.

As a Songwriting Instructor for the Amplify musical, you will lead campers through the creative process of writing original songs for live performance. You’ll guide them in developing their songwriting skills, from lyric writing and melody composition to understanding song structure and storytelling through music. This role involves facilitating collaborative songwriting sessions, providing individual feedback, and encouraging campers to express their unique voice and ideas. The ideal candidate will have experience in songwriting, music theory, and teaching, with a passion for mentoring young musicians. You’ll help campers bring their songs to life while contributing to a dynamic and supportive creative environment.
