Assistant Director

As the Assistant Director at Amplify, you’ll play a key role in supporting the Camp Director and ensuring the smooth operation of camp. Responsibilities include overseeing daily activities, supervising staff, managing trips and travel logistics, coordinating schedules, and ensuring the well-being and safety of both campers and team members. You’ll also help lead special events, resolve issues, and maintain a positive, inclusive camp environment.

This role works closely with 12 lead staff members to facilitate programming and support staff development and training. In the off-season, you’ll contribute up to 10 hours per week remotely from March–June to assist with hiring, scheduling, and program development.

Compensation: $5600–$6800 for the summer (based on experience), plus room and board. Includes orientation, full summer season, and pack-up. Staff also receive professional development opportunities (ACA Conference, certifications, etc.).

Day Camp Lead + Administrative Assistant

Overview:
The Day Camp Lead + Administrative Assistant serves as the primary contact for day camp families, ensuring smooth daily operations and strong communication between camp and parents. This role combines front-line leadership with vital behind-the-scenes administrative support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily check-in and check-out for day camp participants.

  • Act as the first point of contact for parent communications.

  • Support registration, pull reports, and prepare printed materials for staff.

Health + Wellness Staff

Overview:
The Health + Wellness team ensures the safety and well-being of campers and staff by providing immediate medical care, daily health support, and clear communication with families. This is a vital role for keeping our camp community healthy, safe, and supported.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer daily medications and provide first aid or other physical care as needed.

  • Maintain the camp health center and complete related administrative tasks.

  • Conduct health checks on arrival day.

  • Communicate with parents/guardians regarding camper health needs.

  • Offer general wellness support to campers and staff.

  • Work collaboratively as part of a 4-5-person health and wellness team.

Qualifications:

  • CPR and First Aid certification required.

  • EMTs, school nurses, nursing/medical students, and similar professionals are strongly encouraged to apply.

Camp Care Specialist

Overview:
The Camp Care Specialist supports the emotional well-being of campers and staff, helping individuals develop coping skills, build independence, and return to programming feeling safe, secure, and supported. This is a key role in maintaining a positive, inclusive camp culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to campers and staff as needed.

  • Use trauma-informed communication, stress management, restorative justice practices, and mediation to guide interactions.

  • Design and lead two age-appropriate mental health workshops per session for campers.

  • Collaborate with staff to foster a supportive, compassionate environment.

Role Flexibility:

  • This position may be divided into two part-time roles depending on applicant availability.

Residential Counselor & Workshop Leader

Overview:
Residential Counselors are the heart of camp life—mentors, role models, and community builders who guide campers through their daily routines and create a safe, fun, and inclusive environment. This is a great first job for those passionate about working with youth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as either a day (AM) or evening (PM) counselor in Eos (grades 3–8) or Phoenix (grades 9–12) dorms.

  • AM Counselors also teach elective workshops in music, art, life skills, empowerment or outdoor education.

  • PM Counselors lead afternoon and evening programming, including free time, meals, all-camp games, evening activities, night groups and bedtime routines.

  • Share in residential duties such as morning wake-up, dorm life, camper support, and daily activities.

Overview:
Instructors make a powerful impact by guiding campers in building skills, confidence, and creativity in an environment that uplifts voices often marginalized in the arts. Campers select an immersive to focus on, all leading to an end-of-session showcase filled with original work they’ve created.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver curriculum for mixed-level (beginner–advanced) group and private lessons.

  • Teach in at least one specialty area such as bass, guitar, drums, vocals, keys, band coaching, photography, musical theater, filmmaking, fashion design, fine arts, songwriting, or skateboarding.

  • For band coaches: support groups in writing original music, developing collaboration skills, and preparing for live performance. Please note all instrument teachers also band coach.

Unlike older campers, Electric Youth do not attend free-choice electives—so these counselors design and lead tailored workshops that blend creativity, play, and learning. Think of this role as closest to an elementary school teacher, combining camper care with hands-on instruction.

  • Serve as either an AM or PM Residential Counselor, guiding daily routines in the dorms.

Overview:
The Jr. Counselor program is a unique opportunity for graduating 12th graders who want to explore working at Amplify in the future. This short-term, hands-on internship allows you to step into the staff experience while being mentored by our leadership team. Jr. Counselors gain valuable experience, leadership skills, and a behind-the-scenes look at camp operations—all while having a positive impact on younger campers.

Key Details:

  • Eligibility: Must be graduating high school (12th grade) in 2026.

  • Commitment: 2 weeks minimum.

  • Compensation: Paid stipend.

  • Placement: Intern in the staff role of your choice (e.g., residential counselor, instructor, wellness, etc.) with the intention of applying for full staff positions in 2027.
