PM Co-Lead Counselor
As members of the lead team, these dynamic and fun mentors ensure all aspects of programming, evening residential counselor responsibilities and camper care occur seamlessly from afternoon free time through the night. Primary responsibilities include supporting and supervising residential counselors, ensuring all programming is flowing smoothly, and assisting campers who need extra support throughout the evening and overnight. The PM lead team is responsible for any evening communication with Besant Hill or Amplify staff and leadership as needed and is directly supervised by the assistant director.

- Work closely with the assistant director to ensure all aspects of camp will run successfully the second half of each day
- Assist in leading parts of training and orientation
- Supervise and support a team of 9 or more counselors so they are prepared in all responsibilities, and follow up if performance improvements are needed
- Host and support guest performers and workshop leaders
- Provide support for campers
- Camper mail collection and distribution
- Utilize trauma informed and social emotional learning practices in all camper communication
- Plan and lead evening assemblies including group bonding/team building games and challenges, making announcements, communicating the next day’s schedule, and making sure camp rules are followed
- Assist staff in moving gear as needed for evening activities and special guest performances
- Lead transitions and ensure camper count off is accurate
- Lead weekly group and individual meetings as needed with staff, attend lead team meetings 2 or more times weekly
- Connect with AM lead for daily debrief
- Coordinate with the assistant director for staff schedule change requests and possibly fill in for staff
REQUIREMENTS
- 2+ years experience with young adult leadership, mentorship, communication, goal setting, and general ability to successfully manage staff
- 2+ years teaching, mentoring, and/or collaborating experience with youth grades 4-12
- Ability to lead group activities such as ice breakers, games, and challenges
- Understanding of and connection to our mission so that it is at the forefront of mind
- Strong public speaking, leadership, delegation, supervision and communication skills
- Ability to adhere to a schedule
PAY + BENEFITS
- The pay range is $4,800–$6,400 depending on experience, for 8 weeks (June 11-August 5, plus a minimum of 10 hours of pre-camp online trainings) of full-time summer employment
- Room and board is 100% covered
- Travel cost to and from campus is not included and is the responsibility of each staff member
